Since this is the only NYsportsboard section with no posts, I thought I'd chime in and complete the loop.
I'm not much of a cook but now I find myself chowing down center cut pork chops from time to time. After a lifetime of avoidance, I discovered how lean good cuts of center cut pork chops can be, so I'm hooked.
This of course got me thinking about the Brady Bunch, way back when - for the older folks here...the famous pork chops and apple sauce although I tend to pair chicken with the latter, if at all.

I like Cranberry with my bird but apple sauce and chops is a unbeatable combo for me. Best way is when you have a bite on your fork you dip it in the sauce first. I never had chicken with apple sauce but I would imagine it would be good.

Very nice.
I had a small pork chop last night at a friend's who set off a smoke detector while cooking it. Pork chop and corn on cob. The corn was delicious.
I'm having second thoughts now on pork chops on any regular basis having read it's actually red meat which elevates colon cancer risk. I'm not a red meat eater so this revelation that P.C. is red meat is a downer.

It is all about moderation. If you were to eat it all the time I could understand but having anything once in a while is perfectly fine. I make everything I eat and my menu is large enough as to where it takes me about 3 weeks to a month to eat the same thing twice.

Good for you. It's a good plan when you know what you're eating and keep it interesting. I have colon cancer in the family and so I have to be careful with red meat. My Mom died in her 50's from it. I've read that up to 18 ounces of lean pork per week is OK, but I'm assuming that's for people without colon cancer or primary family risk.
Fish with Omega 3's is really the best thing. It's protective.
