If Lou is willing to take on Bobby Ryan's 7.5mil Cap hit for the next four seasons and arguably the Leagues best two way DMan is willing to make his home on LI for the next eight years at a salary slightly above the one offered to 'The Traitor' am I dream'n? Hmmmmm!!!! When healthy Ryan is a hell of a player. He's a possible upgrade to buyout/ stretch candidate Andrew Ladd. Karlsson? His presence on the backline would have greater impact on the ice than John Tavares ever had at any time over the past nine years. So here is my proposal. Send the frugal Sens inexpensive but extremely talented Josh Ho Sang along with one of our #2's next season and add our #1 in 2020. In return we relieve Ottawa of the aforementioned Ryan and Goaltender Craig Anderson representing the baggage necessary to acquire perennial Norris candidate Karlsson. Even without Tavares scoring shouldn't be a problem and Anderson should solve the one guarding the net for a year or two. Heck! I'm feel'n better already!!!! Do it Louie!!! Are there any Islanders fans out there? Come out of hiding and chip in will ya?

This is exactly what I was afraid of rangersfan. Tavares' deceitful, misdirecting comments and eventual departure embarrassed the Organization, made it appear foolish thus creating a renewed perception of an undesirable destination for an elite player. Rather than blasting and Malkin I commend them for their belief, trust and loyalty exhibited by not trading the player last Feb. This was based on repeated comments along the way right up to a couple of days beyond completion of the 82 game schedule. Here they are: "Its obvious this is where I want to play." I love LI and am excited for the future." He and his Camp implored the Isles hierarchy not to trade him at the deadline. "I'm grateful I wasn't traded." "I hope EVERYTHING works out." What the f k is EVERYTHING? Love of LI? Love, comfort, and belief in the future for the only prof. Organization you've known for nine years? He evidently knew and planned his departure after signing his restricted free agent deal with the Isles knowing that was the final obstacle before joining his beloved Maple Leafs. "I'm fulfilling my childhood dream!" That my friend is a dead giveaway. After nine years of being treated like royalty it would have been nice of the ingrate to share his 'dream' with subsequently allowing the Organization to salvage some value at the deadline. Look! John had every right to live out his dream. What he didn't have the right to do is destroy his own integrity by lying his way thru an entire season, leaving his Organization and teammates high and dry. High because of his stature as a player and dry because he sandbagged his former team and left them emptyhanded! Hopefully the Tavares we saw the second half of last season continues to regress along with his obvious flaws at the faceoff circle and two zones not named offensive. I'd be delighted if truly warranted to say in hindsight "Good Riddence!" I now long for that day when Toronto fans and their Organization realize their shiny new object is nothing but a Cap clogging obstacle to their future! Up until the end of the 5 day negotiating exclusivity period the Isles had, I and most were led to believe Tavares merely was performing his due diligence experiencing the romancing of teams for perhaps the only time in his career. HE LIED AND WASN'T THE YOUNG MAN WE THOUGHT HE WAS! As for the future John,'break a leg'(Take that cliche as you may, though I'm not that cruel. It does feel good to say however given the wiggle room!) Time to move on! My heart for this team is stronger than ever. For that I thank Tavares' disgusting manner of departure.

Tavares fucked (pardon my French) over the Islanders. He knew all along he was leaving during the season I believe, which is why he told the team to not trade him.Which they of course could have done to at least recoup something for him.Really scummy thing to do stringing them along like that. It's a shame he decided to tarnish his legacy like that.

Amen! I appreciate your objectivity and insight. If however he knew all along he was leaving the Islanders to join his Childhood Sweethearts you'd think his conscience would compel him to be upfront and repay the loyalty shown him for nine years. What would it have cost him to play in another City for two or three months if it mean't helping out the team that treated him like royalty since he was a professional? Walking away in the manner he did was not only a betrayal to his fanbase but perhaps more importantly his long time teammates such as Josh Bailey and Anders Lee. It would have been nice to supply them with another worthy NHL player while walking out the damn door. Pay back can be a bitch in the form of bad karma. May it follow him North of the Border and constantly serve as a reminder how empty his insides were throughout this process. His behavior was a blue print for 'scumbaggery'. If you're reading this #91 take that thought with you to Toronto liar!!!! I hope you're on hand for the retirement of #91 as its raised with the name Goring below it. He was a true Champion and deserves the honor.
