Our only relevance now appears to be 'The Weak and Dopey Mascot' of the NHL largely due to the deceit of one John Tavares. Who the hell would desire to come here other than those scraping the bottom of the barrel with little to no alternative(see the aging Leo Komirov/Vltelli Filppera)? Other than overpaying via trade or unexpected accelerated development of some youngsters bound by organizational control there isn't any other avenue to relevance. Heck! What is holding up Robin Lehner? Even he,the least desirable Goaltender left on the scrap heap must be desperately seeking a new home before committing to the 'shit pit'!
We've been thru some dark days since the Glory Years but being the only NHL Franchise in history to lose an elite 1st round draft pick in his prime years is 'lights out'!!! Barring a gift from G-d with the sudden arrival of Oliver Wahlstrom,Keiffer Bellows,Noah Dobson and a few others to NHL capability the 2018-'19 version of the NY Islanders promises to be the bottom feeder of the entire League.
