A pox on you John. Not for choosing to go in another direction, but grossly misleading the inept
and entire Islanders Nation as recent as two days after the regular season schedule ended. Here's some of your quotes. "Its obvious THIS is where I want to be." "I love it here and want it to work out." "I like the direction the Organization is headed with some great young talent aboard." "All this being said, here is the most despicable act and crux of my disgust." Imploring the GM not to trade him at last seasons deadline is unforgivable!. "I'm glad I wasn't moved."
So what is the disposition of these events? Tavares sandbagged the Franchise that coddled him for nine years. Up until 12 last night the theory was the player desired to go thru the romancing process then sign for more years and money than any other Organization could offer him. So here we are, mislead, standing in a pile of sand on a deserted beach without bathing trunks!!
As poor a GM that Garth
was he understandably valued and trusted the the players character. Again, John had the right of freedom to make his decision on his own terms. If G-d is the judge however he didn't have the right to disingenuously lead the Organization and its fanbase into a scrambling chaotic situation!
So now its time to kick his sorry butt on the way outta here with all we have left. RATIONALIZATION! The second half of his final season was absolutely putrid. His defense in the neutral and D Zones was as poor as any forward in the League and quietly has been his entire career. It was the 'Leader who's invisible shifts and turnovers significantly contributed to the free fall of his final season.
I've never wished failure or harm for another individual but I'll say this. Hopefully the 7 year deal you just signed with Toronto will be ultimately unearned. If the trend continues we'll see a slow skating scorer and playmaker getting slower and being a detriment defensively.
In ending we just read Tavares 'tearful' thanks to the Islanders Organization and realization of his childhood dream. That being playing for his hometown Maple Leafs. The least you could have done was was share this dream with Garth
a few days before last seasons trade deadline. As far as luck for your future is concerned; "Break a Leg!" Shamefully I don't quite know if I mean't that figurately or literally!
