Better late than never. Congratulations to the Rangers for persevering through that game to get the win, even though they were obviously gassed. Last year they lose that game with Gallant as coach.

They rarely look dominant but they keep winning. Kreider has just gotten better and better with those deflections. Kakko and LaFreniere need to think 5-hole on breakaways and stop going for the corners.

What I like about Kreider's play is the fact he is asserting himself all over the ice. He's even lost a step this year, but is a much improved all around player so far. Laviolette is pushing the right buttons.

If Laffy and Kakko start producing a bit more, it'll be a fun year.

Game Observations 1) It was a record breaking road trip and very unexpected after the last home game against Nashville. 2) They are sticking with their new system for sixty minutes. Playing better defense keeps them in every game. 3) Hopefully their confidence is building knowing how they're capable of playing. 4) Hurricanes will be a good test coming home after the dreaded road trip.

I truly don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but I'd like to inject a dose of wariness into our uptick of feeling good about this team. Firstly, I am wholeheartedly enjoying this fairly consistent level of effort overall. That goes for shooting, as well. They seem to be shooting quicker and more often instead of perimeter passing and then waiting for the perfect shot. I love their game right now. They're playing like a team (finally). They all seem to be working together; and at a good pace, too. It's been very entertaining.
My hesitation/skeptism/wariness is simply remembering clearly how well they played during the season of Gallant's first year, too. So...we've seen this story before.
It does seem thus far that Laviolette is making a VERY effective impact on this group, but...will we see this same level of pace and effort in year 2, year 3, etc. of Peter's time with the Rangers?
TIME WELL TELL.
I'm just putting that out there. I'm not allowing myself to get ahead. I'm just simply enjoying these hockey games, "one game at a time".

Let me respond, Paul. Even while the team was winning games under Gallant, their commitment to team defense wasn't like what we're seeing now.

However, in Gallant's 1st year he was already changing lines within the 1st week and a half. Lavy has been here for 3 weeks and no change to the top 3 lines. He stuck with them through a few bad games. Gallant did not do that in his 1st year. You're right though, we'll see as time goes on.
