I realize Connor McDavid isn't playing, but that by no means makes this game an automatic win for the Rangers. Edmonton has a lot of firepower even without McDavid, and the Rangers will definitely need to be a lot better than they were against Calgary.

(I don't think the Rangers can sleep on ANY team, to be honest.)

Would like to see Wheeler get going tonight, and that third line as a whole. We’re going to need them to produce a little more if these guys want to beat the really good teams. Let’s go Rangers!!!!

Wheeler has done ugotz so far. I give him a little rope, because he played so long for the same team. He’s got to produce eventually though. If he doesn’t I move Goodrow up in his spot, and make a real checking line. Wheeler’s veteran presence for this team could be very important come crunch time. Hopefully he figures it out.

Game Observations 1) They're starting to get comfortable with Laviolette's system. There's no more fancy run and gun on offense, and defensively they are much more responsible. 2) They took the body a lot in this game 3) Quick has been much better than the way he looked in the preseason. 4) Bonino is a very smart defensive player. 5) Change the rule: no goal can be scored off an offensive player's skate blade no matter what.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game tonight. Looks like the coach is preaching to the guys what we've been wanting to see for a while now. Great to see! It's so much more entertaining.
Excellent game by Quick.

I sensed exref's frustration with the ranger goal that was disallowed. All I'll say is that I've seen a lot worse that don't get overturned.
Wheeler didn't score, but he can feel good about his game right now.
Confidence is almost everything and Laffy is feeling it.

I wasn't able to watch the game last night, watched the highlights when I got back. Boy oh boy, who woulda thunk that Quick would be the goalie to get the first shutout of the season for the Rangers. He was terrible in the preseason, and so far he's given up 1 goal in two games. I hope like hell he keeps that up. Rangers played a very solid game all around. And as exref mentioned, it seems like the Rangers are starting to get comfortable with Laviolette's system. It's been a very successful road trip so far for the Rangers.

Quick played the pre-season like a veteran who knew he had the job and wasn't going to risk a groin or hamstring trying to cover up for a lot of AHL guys who weren't going to be around when the season started. Good thing because he looked awful in the pre-season. But so did a lot of the veterans.
Wheeler hasn't scored but neither has Chytil or Zbadnijad. Cuylie's goal was a horseshit call.

Chytil and Z-bad have definitely driven more offense then Wheeler so far though Bob. Especially Fil. He’s been great. I’m glad Blake had the game he did last night. He was noticeable. Got a heavy shot when he uses it too. We’re going to need everybody to perform with our cap situation being what it is. I’ve liked all the summer additions so far though. Especially Gustafsson. I feel like we finally have a top 6. I really like Laviolette as well. He’s a good coach in the right situation. I’m sure it will come to an end at some point, but I like the structure of the team, and the roles he’s established for the players. He’s letting chemistry develop by not mixing the lines as well. We could be in for something special with this team. I get a different feeling watching them this year.
