Jumbled 1st period. Not very exciting hockey.
Rangers need to bounce off that last outburst of offense and keep the foot on the gas pedal in the 2nd, right from the puckdrop.

Not a great first period for the Rangers for sure. They were coming on a bit in the closing minutes of the period though. Feels like this game is there for the taking if they get their game squared away and start generating some offense.

I'd like to see this :
MORE CONSIST FINISHING OF CHECKS FROM MORE PLAYERS
MORE SHOOTING OF PUCKS (hard, accurate and often)
Those two things will help this team succeed now and in the post- season (if they make it)
Without both of those elements, they're simply too passive; and playing more of a reactionary game.

Hockey is a team game as we all know, but all it takes is two mistakes from one player to start the game and we're behind the 8 ball. I liked our game during the last 6-7 minutes so hopefully we can bring that momentum to the second period. Calgary is a team we should beat.

Game Observations 1) After a slow first period they picked up their game. 2) They won this one because of special teams. 3) Not a lot of offense generated, but they had some good opportunities that they didn't convert. 4) They get a break on Thursday not having to face McDavid.

As someone mentioned earlier, Calgary is a team that the Rangers should beat and so they did. After a shaky first period, the Rangers settled things down and did enough to win. It wasn't a thing of beauty, but it was enough.

Something else that deserves mention is the play of Filip Chytil. Even though he hasn't scored a goal yet, I really like the way he's playing. He's skating really well, making plays, and has a lot of jump. He does have 6 assists in 6 games, so that right there says something.

When they play solid defense the opposition doesn't get a lot of chances. That seems to be the key. Last night was one early mistake that cost them a goal, after that not too shabby.
