Unlike Kravs or Gauthier, Laffy has shown he does belong in my opinion. We had this same conversation in 21-22 and then Laffy showed enough improvement in 23 that the talks went away. With his less than stellar showing during the playoffs, the subject is coming up again. That cupped with a new contract and the rangers impending cap issues. Yea, we can trade him, but who knows what we're going to get in return. I only see the rangers trading Laffy because of cap issues, not because of his play. It's too bad Goodrow is now a permanent fourth liner because paying 3.6 mil for that position is too high. That's a problem. We're still reeling from our playoff ouster. If we're finger pointing out Alex, then we have to point the same finger to KK, Chytil, Bread, Zbad, and Fox. They all didn't put the puck into the net. I'll go ahead and finger point our fourth line. They were all on the ice when the devils scored in OT in game 3 and looked in total disarray during the sequence. We were so close to scoring in OT before Hamilton's goal. Turning point in the series. Aside from Igor, there is plenty of blame to go around for the Rangers first round ouster. The veteran players were supposed to lead the way and they didn't. I put Breadman at the top of the blame list because this is the second year in a row he has been a no-show in the playoffs. That is unacceptable on every level and I would be looking to trade his ass because of it. Unfortunately he has a no-move clause, so he could tell Drury to pound sand with such a request. I don't want Kane back. I'm iffy on Tarasenko. The one thing that became clear after the Rangers quick exit is that they are not as good as we were lead to believe. The playoffs exposes the pretenders from the contenders, and the Rangers fell into the former category. The Rangers have a cap squeeze and they need to free up space and do it the right way, which means we can't be stupid and short-sighted about things. Drury has his work cut out for him.

One other thing. I wouldn't be too happy if we traded Laffy and he thrived on another team. Good chance of that happening.
I like Tarasenko. Kane can go for all I care.
Good chance Nico is going. He's another that wasn't on his game against Jersey.

I don’t want to trade Laffy either. I’d be asking every No move clause vet on the team to be waiving it. Hopefully we get one taker, and then maybe we can build a half decent team. As I said before in this thread even. Shesty covers up for a lot of this team’s weaknesses which creates the mirage that the Rangers are better then they are. You can’t be so reliant on your goaltender to win games. That is why the Rangers are a pretender, and will be until they have a team that can do everything well. Laffy isn’t going to wow you with any particular skill, but they’re all good enough collectively to make him a pretty complete player. He definitely disappointed in the playoffs, but who didn’t other then Shesterkin? He’s right at that breaking point. I’m hoping the Rangers bet on him, because to me it’s worth it to wait and see what we got. All players follow a different developmental curve. He’s been here since he was 18 just like Kakko. Both didn’t spend time in juniors or the minors, and it shows. Hard to grow as a player without playing 18-20 minutes a night with more powerplay time.

I hear ya about Laffy thriving elsewhere. It does happen and I wouldn't want to see that either. Ideally, whoever the Rangers new coach ends up being will free up players like Laffy and Kakko and give them more significant ice time. And let's not forget Brennan Othmann and Will Cuylle will most likely be in the lineup next season, at least I hope they are.

If Jay Leach has anything to do with how hard the Kraken work, then it's worth considering.

All this talk about the coaches... but the players who played the games fucking DROPPED THE BALL and PHONED IT IN for most of this season and in the post-season.Supposedly it was the exit interviews that finally put the nails in the coffin for Gallant, but what the players could've done is COME TOGTHER AS A TEAM TO RALLY AND PLAY THEIR ASSES OFF.
But they did NOT.
They did NOT put forth a valiant effort. AT ALL.
They collected their paychecks and then complained about the coaching.
What does THAT say about the balls, toughness and the integrity of this roster and what does that say even more about the management team who scouted and HIRED THEM in the first place???!!!

Will find out soon enough, but the first thing I thought of when I heard Ramsey was let go was allowing Ryan Lindgren to come too soon.

Wow, that's messed up. Ramsey is known as one of the best medical trainers in the entire league. He's been a mainstay of the Rangers for a very long time. And yet Sather still remains on the executive staff as advisor to the owner. Madness.

This is just another fan's opinion, but I'd thought I'd share anyway. I can't disagree with him about Kreider. Especially being that when he's not scoring, he's not doing much out there.

RR, another player you wanted to see go was Howden. Howden is thriving in Vegas and scored the OT winner tonight. He kills penalties, takes the body, will fight, chip in some goals, and is a solid center on the fourth line for 1.5 million a year. Our fourth line center does all the things Howden does, but for 2 mil. more. Another example of giving up on a young player too early.

I'm sorry Paul, but this guy is trying to build his You Tube channel. No thanks.

All I know is that Howden was listless, unimpressive, and unproductive during his tenure with the Rangers. He flat out sucked and I guarantee you he would still suck if he was still with the Rangers. The change of venue obviously did him good. Fuck him anyway.
