And so begins the Rangers 2023 Stanley Cup quest. Appropriately, we get a very stiff test right off the bat against our archrivals. The Rangers have playoff experience, veteran talent, depth, and stellar goaltending. That said, none of that means shit if they don't bring their 'A' game each and every shift. This is a very even matchup as both teams are entirely capable of beating the other. It's all about who outperforms and who wants it more. We know what NJ can do, they have a stifling style defense, they have speed and offensive pop, and they are solid in goal as well. It is my hope that the Rangers don't find themselves overburdening Igor. Certainly we are going to need him to be at his best and he is going to have to make some key saves, but we cannot spend the majority of the time defending in our zone. If that happens, we lose. Keep the offensive pressure on the other guys and spend as much time as possible in their end and SHOOT THE PUCK. Keep them on their heels, and finish your checks with authority. Hockey 101, the basics. This is not going to be easy and this has all the making of a grueling 7 game series, which I think the Rangers will be pushed to the limit but ultimately will prevail in a closely contest series. LET'S GO RANGERS!!!

Three Things That Worry Me 1) The Devils speed on the counter attack. 2) The Rangers habit of overpassing. 3) The Rangers propensity for turning the puck over in their own end.

The Rangers most definitely have their hands full with these guys but we can't make the task that much more daunting by doing it to ourselves via #2 & #3.

seeing the rangers play Tampa the way they did last time they played if they bring that edge to there game I don’t think the devils can match that, yes the devils have speed but it’s kinda hard to use when your ass is hitting the ice

I hope the Rangers remember to show up for the first period.

I liked that first period. No slow start for the Rangers in this game. Wasn't crazy that we took 3 penalties in that period, but we killed them off nicely. Let's not tempt fate, stay out of the box. Let's play another solid 40 minutes.

What a shot by Lindgren to go up 3-0!

Rangers players are really selling out defensively, blocking shots and quickly getting into shooting lanes. Honorable mention to Goodrow who is really having himself a game. Miller has been a little bit sloppy with the puck with givaeaways, something that's been a problem for him lately. He needs to clean that up.

They must keep their feet on the gas pedal and keep the puck in the offensive zone in the 3rd.
Then... at the end of the 3rd, push them around a little bit.

Game Observations 1) They flipped the script. Had a very good first period and were a little shaky in the third. 2) The penalty killing was excellent. 3) They were much more physical, especially the fourth line. 4) Their decision making was very good. Very few fancy passes, and they dumped the puck deep.

Igor had to be good, but he didn't have to stand on his head. His teammates had his back and they did a great job of cleaning up in front of him. That was a very impressive win.
