Paul, I disagree about no Eichel news. The buzz is that after clearing MAF’s contract and cap hit, they have offered a package to Buffalo. I think this deal is gonna get done too. Buffalo lost leverage since the draft is over. They’ll have to accept an offer soon.

Tyler Johnson was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday for Brent Seabrook. Chicago also received a second-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. Johnson, a forward who will turn 31 on July 29, has three seasons remaining on a seven-year, $35 million contract ($5 million average annual value) he signed with the Lightning on July 10, 2017. Seabrook, a defenseman who turned 36 on April 20, said in March that he was ending his playing career because of an injury to his right hip.
His eight-year contract, with an annual average value of $6.875 million, runs through the 2023-24 season. Johnson scored 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) in 55 regular-season games and seven points (four goals, three assists) in 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games to help the Lightning win the Stanley Cup for the second straight season.

When I first read about that trade, I was like wait a minute Seabrook retired. The deal was obviously a salary dump for both sides.

Devils make a big splash with Hamilton.
Rangers sign a 6’6 moose from Boston, Jerred Tinordi. 1 year, under a mil.

I really like both of these depth signings. They both address needs and we desperately need a big stay at home D man vet.

That means the Sabres asking price should be coming down accordingly. I still don't want Eichel.

That means the Sabres asking price should be coming down accordingly. I still don't want Eichel. The Rangers did not have much cap to beging with and with the subtractions and latest additions, the situation of the cap can only be tighter at this point. The only significant players we lost so far was Buch, Blackwell and Smith, with the depth we have they were expendable. The players we added were exactly what we needed and we got a 100% better coach. With a little luck, the current situation puts Eichel to the Rangers to bed once and for all. He is not needed and will do more harm then good!

Boston just got a whole lot better.
Smart move for Foligno to get the hell out of Toronto. In addition to him feeling like Boston "was the right fit," Foligno told TSN during an interview that there was "a family element" to his choosing the Bruins on Wednesday. Foligno's daughter, Milana, had successful heart surgery at Boston Children's Hospital in 2018 after she came down with a virus when she was 5 years old.
She also had a procedure done at the hospital in 2013 after she was born with a heart defect. "My daughter had her life saved at Boston Children's, so we had a little connection there," Foligno told TSN. "It's a pretty exciting time for our family."
