New York Yankees ✔ @yankees Earlier today, LHP James Paxton underwent a microscopic lumbar discectomy with removal of a peridiscal cyst. The surgery was performed by Dr. Andrew Dossett in Dallas, Texas. His approximate timeline to return to Major League action is 3-4 months.

It isn't only the Yankees. All of these pitchers seem to be one pitch away from disaster. I'm sure you remember the days of 4-man rotations and (gasp) complete games. Denny McClain was the last 30 game winner ( actually 31 wins ) and he started 41 games that year. That's a quarter of the season.
Do you remember this game?
I do because I was a Giant fan at the time. Marichal threw 227 pitches that night. Spahn, threw 201 but he was 42 years old at the time and of course he didn't have to finish the game because Willie Mays put #201 over the wall. But both guys made their next starts. Can you imagine the screaming if a pitcher was allowed to throw 200+ pitches today?
The way they baby these guys today is insane. I agree with Nolan Ryan. The way to build arm strength is to pitch. Maybe if they were less concerned with lighting up radar guns and more concerned with hitting their spots things would be different!

Yes Bob, I sure do remember that game And those days. Today its Opener, Starter, middle relief, lefty and Righty Specialist. Set up man closer. Remember when the Yankees had 4 starters, Eddie lopat. Vic Rachie, Allie Reynolds, Whitey Ford, and Joe Page in the bull pen. And all starters were expected to go nine innings or more of what it takes to complete a game. And what about Marichal outduels Spahn in 16- inning thriller 1 nothing win for Marichal. And both pitchers pitch again 3 days later.

Too much weightlifting these days. Sure, you build muscle but what does it do to the tendons and ligaments while you're doing it?

True. I loved the way Trouba laid out that fishstick. Turned him into a fish pattie.

Wow, what a way to get this kind of news before the season starts. Lets hope he comes back stronger. Better then finding out your team is a bunch of Cheaters and having to find a new Manager! It can always be worse and I personally am only 50/50 on Paxton anyway. I am not totally sure it will have an over bearing effect on the team.

Certainly worth keeping in mind that Severino contributed practically nothing last year, either. Even Paxton missed a month last year. Now they have added Cole and we'll have to see what the depth is.

Yes Yankees' Domingo German gets 81-game ban for violating domestic violence policy. Which he should. But every fucking player in The Astros gets away with a phony apology for being a bunch of coward cheaters. And that little Fuck Altuve, is a lying piece of shit. He is facing Chapman who is throwing 100+ MPH, and Altuve knows the next pitch will be a slider (any batter would love to know that in advance) He hits a HR and tells them not to rip his jersey off because of a fucking Tattoo. Bull Shit, he had an electronic device on telling him the pitch coming was a slider. He stole the MVP by cheating away from Judge, and they cheated to win the Series. This was as bad as 8 men out in Chicago. They should all be suspended, and the title taken away from them. Boy are they going to have to wear steel helmets this season. Fuck everyone of them. And the Red Sox and Cora is next.

Now Stanton is injured again(i know..shocking)-strained his calf during fielding drills. His status for opening day is doubtful. What a disaster this guy has turned into.Bubblewrap his ass if he ever gets healthy again, stick a bat in his hand and tell him his playing in the field days are over with
