When was Verlander a free agent? Detroit traded him to Houston who then signed him to an extension. Cole is a free agent now. Greinke? I've never really been impressed.
Cole was drafted by the Yankees but he elected not to sign.

Sorry Bob I stand corrected by the Free Agency. You are right. But I still say the Yankees had the opportunity to get all 3 of those guys, and never really tried. Cole now will be a free Agent. Lets see if the Yankees seriously try to sign him.

No problemo.... I have a hard enough time following my own team let alone anyone else.
They could have traded for them but it would have meant raping the farm system. I didn't think it was worth it. To be perfectly honest I always feel like every pitcher is one pitch away from Tommy John surgery.
And I agree with you that Cole is the one to target.

Yankees finally cut Elsbury and DFA'd Greg Bird. Elsbury still gets paid $21 million and Bird is now so far down the depth chart that he has no realistic chance of even making the team.

Yes he did, Tony. But you have to be able to stay on the field and he couldn't do that. At some point you have to let him be someone elses problem.

Well Bob, we still, have options at 1st base with Voit and Ford, and DJ can go back to his gold glove position at 2nd base, and if they let DD go Gleyber can cover shortstop. And Gio has to be at 3rd base.

Tony I thought Ford was amazing. Who the fuck is this guy and why does he keep hitting the ball over the wall?
The one fly in the ointment is Andujar. What do you do with him? Assuming he comes back healthy the guy is a hitting machine. Maybe he can learn to play left field so that Stanton can DH?

Yes true about Andujar with the bat. But he was a butcher at 3rd base. Outfield is not an easy position. He could be a good trade bait? I think,it would be hard for Stanton or Andujar to break into the outfield. with Judge, Hicks, Mike Tauchman, and Gardner, if they give him another year. Including Cameron Maybin?

I would look to package him with Frazier for a nice haul

Hicks is out for months after surgery.
The thing about trading Andujar is that he has to show that he has value after basically missing the whole year. Maybe at the end of ST?

Oh that's right about Hicks having surgery. Forgot about that.

I know they are high on Florial but the guy is like Bird. Can't stay on the field. How can they ignore what Gardner did for them this year?

He does it all, a complete player. Above average outfielder, can play any position. Speed, can steal bases, can hit with power, can hit to all fields. Can bunt. He has it all, he is a spark plug on the team.
